Thank you for considering Deep Roots Doula an option in your search for the right doula for you! My name is Cat and I am the founder of Deep Roots Doula. A little bit about me, I am a Colorado native and grew up in Manitou Springs. I moved to Denver three years ago to attend nursing school. I graduate from Regis University in May of 2017 and hope to continue my education and become a Nurse Midwife. I fell in love with the birthing process my Junior year of high school while participating in a program called Learning Link at Memorial Hospital. I shadowed in the Birth Center for 8 weeks and after participating in my first patients birth, I knew that was where I was meant to be. I finished high school and was accepted into the nursing program at Regis University.

I completed my OB rotation at Avista Adventist Hospital outside of Denver where I was able to play a more active role in helping women labor. It was during this experience that I began my pathway to become a doula. I found that not only did I have a love for the birthing process, but that I wanted to have a more active role and I was passionate about helping women have a positive birthing experience. I have completed a doula training through CAPPA, and am currently in the process of certifying through them as well.

Outside of my hospital experience, I have had the amazing opportunity to travel to both Panama and Nicaragua to participate in medical clinics that included providing pre and postnatal care to expecting mothers. I have completed projects for community work including postpartum depression education for teen mothers and a defense for the importance of collaborative care between OBGYNs and CNMs.

When I am not at a birth or in the classroom I enjoy hiking with my dog, Gunnar, spending time with my family in Colorado Springs, traveling, and finding the "hole in the wall" restaurants.
